ECSW 2006 News

Posted By: Chairperson   Date: Monday, 31 July, 2006

On behalf of the East Coast Sailing Week Committee and members of the Royal Tay Yacht Club we would like to say thank you to all who took part during the event.

East Coast Sailing Week has yet again been a resounding success with brilliant sunshine throughout and although we would have welcomed a little more wind, we did manage to sail all the races, all be it, at a more sedate pace.

We would again like to take this opportunity to thank all the competitors for supporting the event and for allowing us to have most of our own way when making decisions about the organisation. However, we could not have done this without over 100 members of the Royal Tay Yacht Club giving their time to assist us and keep us on track. We know the competitors would like us to convey their thanks to them all.

Our Dolphins, we have claimed them as ours, also made the event more enjoyable and we were delighted when they escorted the visiting yachts down the river to the moorings. Their have been many, many photos taken during the week of both the dolphins and the yachts and although we attempted to display most of them during the week, if anyone is still interested in looking at these, please do not hesitate to contact us either by telephone or e-mail.

We hope you all had a safe journey home with fair winds and calm seas. We also hope that you will return to the Royal Tay Yacht Club for East Coast Sailing Week when we next host the event. However, you do not have to wait for the next event as we would welcome you at any time either to sail or join us in the Clubhouse.

Many thanks.

East Coast Sailing Week has been throughly enjoyed by all with plenty of sunshine, dolphins ,but perhaps could of done with more breeze at times. East Coast Sailing Week continues in glorious conditions with forty boats taking part.It has been a spectactular sight with all the colourful spinnakers and the dolphins playing throughout the fleet although they have not been so obvious today. The breeze has been variable both in direction and strength but competition has been close in all Divisions. Tomorrow sees an early start for those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Trophy race to the Bell rock. Those who decide not to go can take part in a fun race alomg side the Squibs who will be having a Series race.

East Coast Week Memorabilia   Posted By: Chairperson   Date: Friday, 30 June, 2006

We are hoping to invoke nostalgic memories among our many visitors and members by creating a display in the main clubhouse which will remind us all of the ups and downs of sailing and the fun that we have all experienced in East Coast Weeks gone by.

If you have any old photographs or other East Coast Week memorabilia would you consider sending them to the Club Manager Mandy Gordon who has promised to look after them and ensure that they are returned safe and sound.

Clothing Orders   Posted By: Chairperson   Date: Thursday, 22 June, 2006

Just a reminder to those that are taking part in East Coast Week 2006 that as in previous years we have a selection of specially selected clothing all bearing this years' logo on display at the club. Our own members should be thinking about popping in, trying things on and choosing what they want.

Pictures of all the items for sale are on our Club website so visitors can check this out. It gives everyone an idea of what is available. Garments can be pre ordered if required and you are confident about sizes. We would advise visitors who are intending to purchase clothing to wait until their arrival so they can see the garments close up and can try them on. Our suppliers are on standby to rush through orders so if ordering at the start of the week, clothing will be available hopefully by mid week.

The Countdown Has Started!   Posted By: Chairperson   Date: Thursday, 22 June, 2006

Only 1 month, 31 days to go. Even less if you are taking part in one of our 2 feeder races.

We have already received a number of entries from some of our regular visitors from years gone by but we always have room for more. If you are as yet undecided please give it some serious thought. We are hopefully organising the best sailing event available this year.Entry Forms can be printed off from our Club website.

The East Coast Sailing Week Committee have been working hard to set up a fun filled and varied social calendar and there should be something to suit everyone. Mandy has ordered the beer so we have everything in place to make it another memorable week.

We are certainly looking forward to seeing some old faces and hopefuuly some new ones as well.
