RTYC offers numerous opportunities to sail for Club members in dinghies, dayboats and keelboats, whether you are a keen competitor or simply like to sail for the sheer pleasure of enjoying some of the finest sailing conditions and facilities in Scotland.
Our typical comprehensive programme offers:
“Go Sailing Sundays” ~ when members, their families and friends can sail in company, sometimes making a short passage and landing for a picnic.
“Club Sailing Evenings” ~ generally on Thursdays offer sailing in company especially aimed at those who just like to get out on the water or want to improve some of their skills.
For Keelboats ~ cruise weekends, passage races, an inshore racing series, a weekday afternoon series and various trophy races.
For Dayboats (Squib class) ~ evening races usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays alternate weeks, inshore series, weekday afternoon series and weekend regattas.
For Dinghies ~ race programme from the beginning of April until the end of December ~ Tuesday evening races, spring series, autumn series, winter series, two day and one day regattas and various trophy races.
For the Younger Members ~ Wednesday sailing with training and racing, Cadet Week (5 days), Youth Regatta and the opportunity to take part in the main racing programme.
If you have your own boat then the Tay estuary is yours at any time making use of RTYC’s excellent facilities. If you are not a boat owner then as well as crewing opportunities there are many occasions when you can make use of the available training boats.
Every third year RTYC hosts East Coast Sailing Week a week of sailing, racing and socialising for keelboaters.
Every three years or so RTYC hosts a national championship or major regatta for dinghies.
