In addition to the main club room, Fort William House, RTYC offer excellent beach front sailing facilities in West Ferry Bay below the main clubhouse.
These include the original RTYC clubhouse, now converted into a fitted Galley for keeping sailors watered and fed during main sailing events. This includes a sitting area with views over the sailing area to allow non sailors to view the action in comfort. There is also an outside sitting area when weather permits. Around this beach clubhouse there is a secure tender park leading to a slipway giving easy access to member’s moorings. Each year the club lays visitors moorings but where possible visitors should contact the club before arrival to ensure availability and suitability for their type of vessel.
To the West of the tender park is a very large secure dinghy park surrounding the premises of the affiliated Tay Sail Training Association again with its own slipway giving easy access to the sailing water.
To the East of the Race Box are a number of boat sheds, with secure lockers for members use. These sheds include premises used by the clubs Safety Boat Team, a hardy bunch of members who give up there time to ensure members safety afloat.
A short walk from the beach gives access to large Ladies and Gents changing and shower rooms situated in the garden of Fort William House. The gardens also offer limited camping facilities for visitors to sailing events.
Vehicle access to our beach facilities is by way of Ogilvie Road where the club has a large car parking area. Care should be taken when crossing the pedestrian railway crossing. Visiting dinghies need to be pulled along the pedestrian walkway from Douglas Terrace. The club have a quad bike for heavy boats.
To complete the club’s sailing facilities the club also owns extensive boat storage facilities adjacent to Broughty Ferry harbour. Known as the harbour shed these are used for winter storage and maintenance of members keel boats and can be brought into use if hosting major yachting events
