Membership Categories

The Club has two main classes of membership, open to both sexes with equal rights.   These are:

Sailing Member

A member who is active in sail or power yachting or its related activities.   This covers all the water sports; sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, jetski, rowing etc.   All are welcome.

As well as all the water activities, the club runs all sorts of social functions throughout the year.   Something to suit all tastes.

For the keen sailors, there are regular race evenings and regattas held at the Club.   The Club also plays host to major sailing events and National Championships.   2006 saw the RTYC hosting East Coast Sailing Week, the premier sailing event for the East Coast of Scotland and North East England.   The event was open to all classes of boat, from the smallest to the largest, slowest to the fastest.   With 40+ boats taking part, it was a busy week.

Each year the RTYC also plays host to Tay Week, which is organised by the Tay Yacht Clubs Association on behalf of all the sailing clubs in the Tayside area.

If you are interested in sailing or any of the other water activities, then come along to the Club.  You do not need to own a boat.   There are nearly always boats requiring crew!    If you are a beginner, the Tay Sail Training Association runs "Learn to Sail" courses during the sailing season.   For details please click the TSTA link - above left.

The 2006/2007 subscription for a sailing member is £120.   A second or subsequent member of the same family can also join as a sailing member for a subscription of £51.   If joining after the start of the new membership year in September, a reduced (pro rata) subscription rate applies.

A person under the age of 25 can join the Club as a young member for a reduced subscription of £51.

Social Member

A member who has no direct involvement in sailing but is permitted to use the social facilities of the Club.   This membership suits those who like to have a place to have a drink, have lunch or high tea out on a Sunday, or something more special, Dinner on a Friday or Saturday.   The Club is even a great place to sit and read the paper or just enjoy the magnificent view.

In addition there are regular social events from a New Year party to quiz nights, dinners and evenings with a theme.

The Social Member subscription for 2006 / 2007 is £60.
