This event is being run on the same day as the Broughty Ferry Gala. It provides an opportunity to showcase the different watersports and clubs which use the Tay estuary. It will be a gathering rather than a competitive event. Clubs are invited to put up a small shore display on the beach from noon. Displays should be supervised at all times. No gazebos are allowed and anything which can blow away should be bolted down!
The event will be weather dependant. If forecast wind is over 15kn watersports will have to be cancelled.
Prior to the event communication will be via the TEWSH Whats App group.
Low water 1302 (Dundee Port) High water 1821 (Dundee Port).
Participation remains the sole responsibility of each individual with the club they come from providing safety cover for their members.
The committee boat for the even is Relentless, the orange RTYC Work Boat
1230 - fleets depart from various clubs when advised by each clubs safety officer.
1300 Briefing - will take place on the sandy beach just east of the Broughty Castle and west of the defined swimming area.
1330 - Safety boat parade followed by RNLI demonstration.
1345 - Rowing skiff muster and then race - to start with a muster off the beach
(There will be a general sound signal to come to the start line).
Course - Start between the Committee boat and Mark S - turn at Mark 1, leaving it to starboard and return to cross finish between committee boat and Mark S.
There will be a second race if time allows.
1430 - approx. Dinghy races
There will be a general sound signal 1 minute before the start sequence)
Race 1 will be an all classes general handicap for the RNLI pennant.
A personal voluntary donation of £10/boat to the RNLI B/Ferry is suggested.
Start sequence - 3 minute sound signal and Number 3 board up; 2 minutes sound signal
and Number 2 board up; 1 minute sound signal and Number 1 board up; then start on zero, sound signal and all boards down.
Course: Will be a triangle.
Start between mark S(p) and Committee boat - Mark 1(p) - Mark 2(p) - Mark 3(p) - S(p)
Average laps until finished with sound signal.
Repeat as soon as all boats have finished for Races 2 and 3, if time allows.
1600 - Fleets depart in company - dinghies depart for their home clubs with safety boats.
Dinghies taking part should not leave the event area without communicating and agreeing arrangements with a safety boat.
Communication afloat will be via Chanel 37.
